In the summer of 2018, I worked on a team of three frontend developers, two backend developers, a project manager and one other designer, to create an internal software for a major oil and gas company called, Operations Manager. This software helps employees manage daily tasks so that they stay accountable and motivated in the workplace.
Challenge #1
One of the challenges we faced was that the employees needed to reference the Operations Manager offline because a majority of their tasks involved going to locations without wifi. We resolved this issue was by creating the ability to download reference files and to save task forms offline and once they return to a wifi network their tasks will submit for them.
Challenge #2
Another challenge was to make sure that employees stayed motivated to complete tasks online. We resolved this issue by creating personalized home pages, as well as a ranking system to add a competitive flare. The home page on the left below displays a dynamic scorecard personalized to each employee that shows their most important tasks in order starting with the top left box, "New LPO Events." Along with their tasks, we created a ranking system to show employees how well they are completing tasks compared to their coworkers.
