For this project, our client managed an energy company that oversaw the work of vendors based on construction sites, and our client needed us to create software that helped their vendors fill out and submit their timesheets digitally so that they could eliminate their paper timesheet system. We designed software for three types of users: the vendor (who fills out the timesheet), the reviewer (who edits the timesheet), and the approver (who works for our client and approves of the timesheet before submitting it to their billing department). Below are visuals of the dashboard where the vendors manage timesheet submissions and deadlines, as well as the timesheet interface that vendors fill out at the end of each day on a construction site. (completed in late 2020)
Desirability
The client and vendors wanted to make their processes more efficient and sustainable, which this software accomplishes.
Feasibility
Using Agile processes, the client’s development team was onboarded and prepared to create our proposed solution.
We made sure that the designs could be developed within their timeline.
Viability
The proposed solution would be used on technology that the client and vendors already have, which makes the adoption and long-term use of the solution more concrete.
Process
We conducted extensive interviews with the vendors to ensure that we met their needs, as well as our client's needs. The vendors expressed an interest in using their mobile devices to fill out timesheets because they were always on a construction site without access to a computer. Below are a few examples of the vendor user experience through desktop and mobile.
